Strangest Track With A Shadows Connection ?

Postby captainhaddock » 06 Mar 2010, 21:35

I heard this on Sounds Of The 60's this morning and still can't quite believe the fact that Tony Meehan produced it. Is this the strangest track with a Shadows connection?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULvu8FzEt14

I have since been informed that the label indicates that this was in fact a Tony Wilson production. This just goes to show that you can't always believe everything that the BBC tells you!!!!!!

Hi Philip,

I always believed that the Hot Chocolate Band single "Give Peace A Chance" was produced by Tony Meehan and quite a number of sites on the web confirm this.

Unfortunately I only have the US release of this single and none from any other country to give another proof. The USA version clearly states Tony Meehan as producer on both labels.

Perhaps someone else within this community has a different copy to show the production credits.

At least the BBC is not totally wrong.

Hi Ulrich,
Many thanks for taking the time and trouble to reply to my e-mails. It looks as though you and the BBC were right.
Tony Wilson played Bass on the track and co-wrote the "B" side. I therefore nominate "Give Peace a Chance" once more, for the Strangest track with a Shadows connection. All the best from Philip.

I think there are some more candidates. What about the Strike Cola promotion single by The Poets "Heyla Hola" b/w "Fun Buggy" also produced by Tony Meehan.

I will dive into my boxes and cases and I am sure that there are some more.

Best wishes,

Ulrich

It seems that at least they weren't proud, I can't imagine John Lennon producing Les Dawson.
