The Show

Postby des mcneill » 24 Sep 2009, 00:12

I have just returned home from the Odyssey Arena in Belfast where a crowd of just under 7,000 filled the place to see Cliff and the Shads. I have never especially been a cliff fan,but you have to hand it to the guy he know his stuff. The band was superb as was the sound in a place not renouned for good sound. The show was a resounding success with,in all fairness,a quite equal appreciation by the crowd of both Cliff and the Shads. It was a pleasure to see them together again,it's the way it should be. You have something great to look forward to. Hank's sound has returned to nearer the old sound we all love.

Des - totally agree - both Cliff & the Shads were terrific. Really enjoyed it. And you're right - Hank's guitar sound was terrific.

We Shads fan are a strange lot,I don't know if there is another band anywhere that has the type of following The Shads have,ie music playing clubs etc.
At Belfast last night I met Colin,a member of the Toronto Shads club who flew over for the gig,and my fellow band members met a guy from the Perth Australia Shads club ! I had become used to this at Shadowmania every year but Belfast ?? Long may it continue.

Hi Des,
In all my years of being a Shads fan, from 'Dance On' days, it has also struck me that there just isnt any other band anywhere that has the massive support in so many countries...... & I for one feel extremely proud of it.....it is a testament to their talent, & professionalism, & sheer 'likeability'. :D
Being a fan has lead me to meet many new & lasting friends, & I can honestly say, with hand on heart, that I enjoyed every single one of the concerts I attended over the years. The fact that there are just as many women as men in their audiences proves that its the personalities as well as the playing that makes them so popular.
Cheers

Hi, my name is Gerry Sayer. In 1960 I saw Cliff Richard and the Shadows live in Cape Town South Africa. After seen them play, I was so impressed that I went out and bought myself a drum kit and started playing. I am now 65 years old and still playing on occasions. When I heard of the reunion concert I immediately bought air tickets and concert tickets and we are now so looking forward to the show at Wenbley Arena on the 22nd October. My wife and I would love to meet the members of the band, is it at all possible?
