Live at the Paris Olympia

Postby Fenderman » 08 Jul 2010, 18:15

My cd copy of Live at the Paris Olympia recently was damaged to i bought a new copy from Leo's Den and i am very disappointed by it (the CD not Leo's Den).
It was the version from Magic records, the between song announcments sounds like it has been taken from a bootleg copy and edited very obviously into the live tape. Also, why is 'Black eyes' and 'Silvery rain' overdubbed with studio versions? This dosen't make any sense and defeats the whole purpose of a 'live' album.
I think i'll track down the EMI version instead.

On the Magic Records release, the between songs annoucements were indeed taken from unofficial recordings. As far as I know, they are not featured at all on the EMI release.
"Blacks eyes" and "Silvery Rain" were added from studio recordings, because these tunes were played at these performance, but live recordings were defective an unusable (it's explained on the inside cover). You won't find them on the EMI release.
If you are unhappy with Magic Records' Shadows CD reissues, don't worry. Their licensing agreement with EMI has come to an end, and have been removed from the Magic Records catalog.

I'd love to read the inlay but it's all in French! I thought it would have a French and English translation as it did with the 'Stereo and Mono' CD, ah well....
All left to release now is the BBC recordings! :D

French is easy to read - like Latin. Didn't you do them at school?

PS: You can always OCR it and put it through Babel Fish...
