For me it has to be a couple of pints of Skinners Heligan Honey.

Though I don't live in Cornwall this has to be my favourite.

Take care all you Guitar playing Real Ale Drinkers

Speaking from Australia, the obvious answer is 'MY BLOODY OATH!'

I always have a few ales throughout a gig- although lager beer types are more popular over here, if available at the gig venue, I favour 'heavy' - such as our local South Australian Cooper's ales- local family owned brewery been going for donkey's years, brewed in the bottle etc

I overdid it a trifle when playing at my mate's 60th birthday party a few years back (he was the singer in our old band years ago, and wanted to get the old band back together for his party)

After six Cooper's full strength during the first set, the second set was fairly lively!

Which is why tough Fender type bolt -on neck guitars and rugged transistor amps are my choice.......they don't break if they get knocked over or if you fall on them

...................and not just "Real Ale Drinking Guitarists", either!
There are - I'm sure - a number of real ale drinking Drummers in the Shadowmusic community too!
Having just enjoyed a few "Heligan Honeys" myself, it explains why this post has taken so long to put together.
Way back in the '60's (before the drink-driving laws), I recall that standard operating procedere was to do a gig and "rehydrate" by sinking as many ales as was necessary. We did a lot of gigs in the Fishermen's Clubs in Grimsby at that time, and had a Ford Popular "Band Bus" that knew it's own way back to Lincoln - even stopping on it's own if there was a train coming at the railway level crossing on the A46!
Just a point of detail - and not wishing to be too much of a "Yellowbelly" - Batemans is not either just a homebrew, or a "Yorkshire" ale, but brewed in all it's glory in Wainfleet - LINCOLNSHIRE!
Whilst sinking the Heligan Honeys with my (non-musical) eldest Son earlier, we were planning a "Brewery Tour" at Wainfleet, so "Roll-on the Batemans"!!
Regards
Paul
