Backing tracks

Postby Jeff1 » 26 Feb 2010, 15:37

Hi All,
I would appreciate some guidance on the best backing tracks to buy.
I would like to purchase tracks with only the lead guitar missing , obviously as true to the original as possible . Unless you know different?
Many Thanks

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

There are so many different sources for BTs, I think it depends what you are looking for. I think a lot of people start off with Shadows tracks and then diversify.

There are a number of very good sources, probably the most central source (they sell the lot, pretty much) is Leo's Den (www.leosden.co.uk), (post free in UK), but you can buy from the individual producers of the BTs.

On some of the individual sites there are demos of the tracks, to give some idea of what you are buying, these are some of my favourites, in no particular order -

Shadows Workouts Vols 1-14 (www.shadowsworkout.ucoz.com)
UB Hank
Dave Robinson (www.pastmastersmusic.co.uk)
Roger Allcock (www.vintage-sounds.co.uk)
Roger Paulsson (www.nostalgiband.se/roger/backtrax.english.htm)
Pete Korving (via www.graceland52.eu)

There are others, of course, and I'm bound to have missed some of them, there are some from Australia too.

The BTs from Europe, namely Roger Paulsson, and Pete Korving tend to be more expensive, but are very good quality.

There are also free BTs available and a couple of the good ones are -

Goran Tangring (www.goran.tangring.com)
mathieu (http://users.telenet.be/mathieu.laats/default.html)

A google search will reveal a lot more.

There is also a very god site for Tabs -

Tony Clout (www.tabman.co.uk)
There are also free ones available on web.

That should be enough to get you started . . . hope it helps.

Regards

Thanks for your reply Brian.
I know there are plenty of tracks out there . I just didnt want to buy a lot of tracks that prove to be less than required, only to have to buy again from another supplier.
Perhaps i will just take a chance on one of your recomendations. At the end of the day im sure that if they are good enough for you guys, then for sure they will be good enough for me .
Many thanks for your time

Regards

As you have written elsewhere on the internet, these tracks are copies of originals and, as such, may not legally be sold on this site. For this reason I have no option but to remove your message and ask you not to advertise these tracks again on ShadowMusic.

If you have original tracks, to which you own the copyright, please email the details to shadowmusic@bdme.co.uk and you will then be welcome to advertise them.

Dave, like you, I smell a rodent here.

Jeff, I would be vary wary of buying backing tracks from this person. Check out his listings on eBay, which for a small sum, he will send you a CD of 15 backing tracks of your choice from an enormous list posted there. I'm not making any accusations here, but for one person to have produced all those tracks themself would be a gargantuan achievement.

There's a very similar thread going on on Charlie Hall's website at the moment, where mozartpie almost admits to copying the tracks, which is of course, highly illegal.

I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

Just Google 'mozartpie' and it should take you to the thread on Charlie's site.

Hopefully with the money he makes, he'll go to skool and lern to spel!!
It begs the question - As this is clearly one of the much discussed eBay "Rip Off" merchants should he remain a Member here?
AFAIKS he is just using us (and Charlies site) to flog his pirated wares.
cheers

As it has come to my attention that the tracks to which Shaun refers are copies to which he does not own the copyright and he had admitted as much in another place I have removed his advertisement from this thread.

Shaun, if you wish to discuss this in private, please send me a PM.

Thanks,

I can understand why you have removed Shauns advert, however it is still being carried within Daves reply which defeats the object somewhat !

Thanks for spotting that one Captain . . . . .
