Hi, Keith,
In my opinion, the most realistic backing track series is the "That Sound!" series, created by Maurizio Mazzini and engineered by Roberto Pistolesi. The drums certainly sound less mechanical than some other tracks and the rhythm guitar tone is crisp and bright.
Kon-Tiki and
Dance On are included in the listings on volume 3 (I believe the three CDs are available from Leo's Den).
As with the U B Hank collections, all the Shads tracks are backing tracks (sometimes alternative ways of ending a tune - coda or fade-out) rather than half of them being demonstration versions. So for instance, on Volume 3, you get fourteeen separate Shads tunes, plus some alternative endings, plus a demo and BT for one original Mazzini instrumental.
Still, for all that, even with the more natural sound of the tracks, I notice that if you spin in a Mazzini recording for a club player, they often get a panicky expression on their faces as though the tune's going to turn out different or something (eh, David?

).
You can't win 'em all...
JimNBTW: Do you know how to create a version of your existing track tht's a bit slower (but in the same key)? It's not too difficult...
