Ditch Audition and use Soundforge. I've no trouble with 5:1 surround or VST eTAP Engineer (running Win 7 64 bit) as you've experienced over the years. Of course you need the AC3 plug-in to make 5:1 which I have for soundtracks. Sony Soundforge---the best by far. Not for the faint of heart
