Is Hank Marvin feeling the pinch?

Postby captainhaddock » 22 Jun 2011, 08:51

With the wonderful news that Hank Marvin is about to release a new album and is also making a return to live performance,
It was a little surprising to see this: http://www.hankmarvinbreakfasts.co.uk/ is he feeling the pinch?

I wonder if he gets a royalty for use of his name, or whether he could sue them for doing so?

It used to be his 'stage name' as they used to call it, but I seem to recall he changed it by deed poll years ago- or his he still Brian Robson Rankin(e)?

If it is still only a stage name, did he register it as a business name or whatever?

I believe Hank already officially changed his name to Hank B. Marvin way back in 1958 or 1959.

My 5 year old Daughter did mention to me the other day that she was "Starvin Marvin". I did chuckle.

Apart from one late actor who shall remain nameless, 'cos it's rude  Is Hank the only celebrity to have become a part of "Cockney rhyming slang"?

Let's see... mainly neologisms, but...

Pete Tong (wrong)
Ruby Murray (curry)
Bob Marley (cocaine, via charlie)
Anneka Rice (advice)
Ayrton Senna (£10)
Acker Bilk (milk)
Davina McCall(s) (don't ask)
Rusty Lee (use of comfort station)

The point is that you're only supposed to use the first bit that doesn't rhyme.

"Ruby" for "curry" (as heard on "Only Fools And Horses")
"Hank" for "hungry"
"Acker" for "milk", and so on.
