Shadoz

I'm sure most Aussie members will know about this event but just in case, here's the website. Unfortunately it's too far for us to travel but sounds like a lot of fun :)

:o Hi Rosemary.
Latest news on Shadoz (courtesy of Martin Cilia -Atlantics) is that this may possibly be the last Shadoz to be held, according to Geoff Jermy (organiser).
If this is the case Geoff is hoping to attract some special guests.
Further details as they come to hand.
I was hoping to attend (12th June) but will be at a tribute show to Eric Clapton called "Crossroads" at The Enmore in Sydney the previous night which makes for an interesting juggling of flights to and from Sydney & Melbourne.
Hope all is well, cheers from Ian. :D

Hi Ian
That's a shame if it's the last one. I would definitely go along if we were closer but we're in Brisbane.
Best wishes

Did anybody who uses this site go?
Dan Toft, from Congleton, was there, playing with Tony Kiek, but he is still in Oz.
Any chance of a report on proceedings?

Hi Paul, yes I attended but due to weather dramas my flight left Sydney 4 hours later than scheduled!
End result I missed Dan's spot but did get to chat with him later.
He's having a great time, seeing plenty of the country and making quite a few new friends along the way.
I did get back to Sydney eventually (that's another story to do with a certain volcano) and caught up with Dan again at The Sydney Shadows Club meeting held 19th June. This time I saw his "show" and must say I was very impressed.A nice bracket well played, great tone and showing a level of playing well beyond his years.
I'm not sure when Dan is heading home but I'm certain he'll have lots of pleasant memories of "Down Under."
Cheers, Ian. :D

Thanks Ian.
I have seen Dan play many times, and I have played with him in "Live Band" sessions, at both the Congleton club and its predecessor, the Cheshire Guitar Club, and I am always impressed with his playing, whether he plays Bass, Lead, Rhythm, Keyboards or even Drums. I believe he comes home on July 11th., (Volcanoes permitting), and if he doesn't get snared by some "Sheila" down under!

Hi Paul,
I was with Dan at Shadoz.
Dan and Tony opened the show and had a very warm and appreciative reception. Dan played superbly and as far as I could tell did not drop a note. He used his Strat through my Magicstomp and Korg Toneworks amp simulator DI into the PA and many (including the organisers) commented how good the sound was.

Their 45 min set was ...
Eye Of The Tiger
Smooth Operator
Alone
Waiting For A Girl Like You
Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic
Crockett's Theme
Stack It
Sultans Of Swing (Vocal)

We have the full set on reasonable quality video to upload to youtube on return. He will have many great stories to tell when he sees you.

Here is a clip of Tony and I doing the long version of Flingel Bunt with Dan behind the camcorder.

Hi George
I enjoyed your "Rise and fall and rise and fall and rise and fall"!
Thanks for the news of Dan, and I look forward to seeing the video.
I also look forward to seeing you and Tony again when you next visit our shores.
