A very thorough report Rob and it was nice to meet you again there for a brief chat.
It certainly was a fine show with much effort put in by all concerned. I particularly enjoyed Keith Powell's and Russ Sainty's sets. Even if Russ didn't always get the lyrics spot on he projected the feel of the numbers well and, of course, The Rapiers' truly accurate backings sealed the performance.
Alan was a true professional on Jet's Fender VI and played effortlessly, even though he had apparently never played that instrument before.
Colin was his usual approachable and affable self and we had a good chat about our respective Fender VIs.
I must echo Rob's praise of Nathan Hulse's Nivram solo. He must have played it so many times before but on that night it had to be something special and it really was the business.
A really enjoyable show, albeit due to the saddest of circumstances, and I'm glad I was able to be there (but disappointed I didn't win the portrait!).
