RIP Paul Yandell

Just found out that Paul yandell has passed away, you or may not know he was Chet Atkings sideman for many years.

Oh, that IS sad news, Spence.

Paul was Chet's chosen rhythm player for some decades (wasn't he on the "Chester and Lester" LPs?). And he did a lot or work with Fender/Gretsch to get the accurate version of Chet's 1959 Country Gentleman (complete with the correct selected pickups) onto the market.

PY also had a lot to do with getting some of Chet's unreleased tracks out on CD.

A real loss.

Very sad news indeed. I'm a great fan of Chet Atkins and at almost all of his tv and live performances Paul was there as his support. More than just an accompanist though, he would tweak Chet's amp and effects during the show and remind him of the song titles Chet forgot. An underestimated player, he was also a sideman on many of Chet's albums.

Sad, sad news indeed. I too am a fan of the stuff he did with Chet and these guys were the innovators and too many of them are leaving us far too quickly for comfort. One thing is certain, they left along lasting legacy in their recordings. Thanks for the music and RIP Paul.
