To be fair the site has improved greatly over the years. When I joined in 2009 there were some really distastful characters posting some extremely offensive comments way much worse than we get now. I dont know what happened to them, whether they jumped or were pushed, nor do I care, the worst of them dont seem to be about which is great, I think maybe better moderation in recent years has played a part in this.
I too have no great aspirations of sounding identical to Hank or having the exact same kit as his or anybody else's either, I only want to enjoy what I do and enjoy what some of you guys do in here in respect of your videos, recordings, and technical information and of course the funny and not too serious comments too. This site has taught me so much over the years even though I've been playing for neary fifty years I still learn something from you guys.
Its a great shame that some good posters and players have left in the past over some stupid comments that have been said and will probably never be seen again.
I dont see you getting slated for your comments Derek as nearly all of us will probably agree with you, I cant think of many if any upsetting postings in the recent past, maybe I missed them, sometimes things get taken out of contex if you dont know the members who post certain things tongue in cheek and not intending to have a go at someone, I myself used to think that about some of the postings til I got to know the characters(the posting previous to this one as an example) in here.
Anyway. It kinda goes with the territory being bitchy, with us fickle and highly-strung musicians dont it

I do concede that most people on here are genuine and dedicated enthusiast, who care deeply and take pride in the music they produce. I have indeed benefited greatly from sharing the fruits of that over the years. It’s just that some get so passionate that they are prone to distasteful nasty outbursts against each other, the worst I have ever seen very recently.
It's even worse though, when derogatory comments are directed at less experienced or less able members of the site. Some have told me they would love to comment on a subject but daren’t for fear of reproach or ridicule.
Other than enthusiasts on this site though I bet 99% of the public want to enjoy listening to talented players and singers, they want to watch a show and to be entertained rather than watch someone twiddle with clapped out old echoes or amplifiers and equipment between every number. There are some people with terrific musical skills and I honestly have great respect and admiration for them, but I would like to respectfully remind them that people skills are just as important.
Finally thanks to everyone for not giving me a hard time over my comments. Indeed I would like to thank everyone for their support and some very kind words.
I think it may be time to close the subject now but I don’t know how lol. Thanks again everyone, I will now slink back off and observe from the wings.
