Brian Bennett & Alan Hawkshaw gig

Postby leosden » 15 Jun 2012, 18:06

Not sure if this has been mentioned but Brian and Alan and the KPM Allstars will be appearing in Islington, London, at the Assembly Rooms on the 7th July. Details on our facebook page.
We also have the great Mattesons' snack advert with lots of young 'Hank Marvin's" and "Apache", and the tag line "You must be Hank Marvin". (For overseas fans, this is slang English for 'Starving')
Enjoy.

I have just purchased two tickets for the gig!

I actually have them here with me now, as they are print-at-home e-tickets!! Whatever next!!

Anyway, I shall be there and I am thoroughly looking forward to it. I'll be the one in the Downstairs Standing area with the stupid haircut!!!

See ya (I hope!!!).

Hope you enjoy the gig Chris. Just a snippet of info from Brian, because the stage is so small and there are so many musicians he says he will be using a smaller drum kit than usual. There is a picture of his set-up on our facebook page.
All those musicians must make quite a sound.....
Anyone else going - enjoy the evening.

Indeed I was going to post this myself had it not already been here. BB and Alan Hawkshaw gave us a memorable glimpse of this world at Shadowmania last year. The KPM All Stars make a great band in the true sense of the word.

Here's a link for tickets. https://agmp.ticketabc.com/events/kpm-all-stars-alan-h/

Here's hoping Dave Richmond will be on bass too. :)

Yes, a great looking kit. I know it will sound awesome!

I am looking forward to the gig; first time ever seeing 'Big Al' and the first time since 2009 seeing 'Benbo'. Be great if Dave Richmond was there too. All in all, it's gonna be great! Any other Shadowmusic users going? If so, see you down there!!

Will they play the library music from the 1970's KPM LP's? Indeed, Big Al and Benbo together with Dave "Champagne" Richmond would be great, as it's the Collage line-up.

...gonna be a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooong day tomorrow!!! Early train to Manchester then car journey down to Londinium! Mind you, I'm quite excited about it!!!

Oh yes and bearing in mind that the 'Mohawks' are on the bill, in deference to them, I have had my hair cut accordingly!!

See you tomorrow night (I hope!).

Chris ;) :D

I would have loved to go Chris!
Was BB playing all night? Or just a few numbers?
I missed this one... but, for me, he is still one of the best, if not, the best...
I hope, and I really hope, Brian keeps on playing and playing.

Steve,

It was a great night - never seen people dancing to the themes to Grandstand, Grange Hill and BBC Golf before!!!! Great stuff!!!

Brian was only playing for about 50% of the gig, but he was as brilliant as ever - a nice extended drum intro to his 'Chase Side Shootup'. Alan Hawkshaw, again, played for about half the gig - that legendary Hammond sound filling the room!!

I SHALL post some pics soon. Just need to reduce them in size by some considerable degree as currently they are HUGE!!!

All the best,

Chris
