I must admit that I find a lot of this uncomfortable. As collectors, I'm sure that we have many bootlegs of very poor quality indeed featuring The Shads, Cliff, Jet & Tony etc. I well remember the 2nd possible release of Shads material that Hoffers was puting together and despite The Shads not wanting that material to get out (from memory it contained Groanin' and Happy Birthday without overdubs), it did and many copies are now in circulation.
We seem to be a bit two faced here and it might be the description and perception of the release that is causing trouble rather than the content.
Many of us (including Rob) have a great deal of unofficial material and if this is another 'collectors item', then why not? Jet didn't want it released doesn't really wash as The Shads didn't want a lot of their stuff released, but it was, only to satisfy the demands of collectors who want anything group related.
Just my personal view.

Hi all,
I really hope non of you are taken in by this nonsense from Mr. Campbell. While I hope the CDs are withdrawn I will see if Mr.Campbell's words bear any relationship to his actions - they seldom do. The CD was never a tribute to Jet and relabelling will not change anything very much at all. The truth of the matter is that Jet was used at a time when he was very vunerable and this post by Mr.Campbell is his attempt to retain some credibility and rescue something from the wreckage.
Changing the label does not alter the fact Jet did not want either the "studio tracks" or the Shads Ireland gig released due to the shortcomings in the overall sound and the band, nor is the fact that there are questions under the copyright laws. Denis is right when he said Jet carried the day with his charisma and wit, and Jet afterwards remarked to me "We were lucky to get away with that".
The unpleasantness made public surrounding the release of this CD is but a drop in the ocean,it is up to others to decide whether to release the full story; as someone few of you know but who was extremely fond of Jet I implore you to resist encourageing any more exploitation of his memory. This can not be passed off as a mistake or accident, - do you really want your intelligence insulted ??
