I don't know the answer but it strikes me that, having spent all that time getting a guitar specced up to your personal requirements, not to mention having it named after you, you'd want to use it if you'd been happy with the process. However, no professional guitar lasts for ever and if the factory had closed it wouldn't be possible to order up facsimiles or improvements. John Rostill had the same problem a couple of years earlier, his Burns bass was completely clapped out and he'd already switched to his Fender J-bass before the Shadows Mk I folded. For Hank to follow suit seems inevitable, especially once the burglars had been!
