You are all obviously upper class.

No such problem in Barnsley, we share the guitar.

Ahhh... an interesting one.

Things were trickier with Wife MarkI... but wife MarkII gave me a guitar as a wedding present! And she is happy for a guitar and tiny amp to live in the lounge... and the "second" bedroom is my playroom which can be converted to a bedroom when required for guests...

And no you can't... she's all mine!

p.s. A little tip... be good when going shopping, and encourage the purchase of shoes, handbags and clothes.
p.p.s. Joking aside... this lady is worth more to me than all the guitars in creation...

Indeed! No fur coats or expensive jewelry in sight (which doesn't necessarily mean that the lady doesn't appreciate those things) !! But you have a very wise (and lovely) wife David, who knows that the way to a man's heart is through his guitar(s)!

What I do is send wife away to Spain with friends or family, and what I save by not going away gets me a new guitar, what does make me smile is when She goes on about wasting money, and then when you get six sets of strings in the post because its cheaper , she still moans, maybe I should send her on another holiday
Take care

Yeah, my wife knows her place too. One foot on my head and the other on my wallet. :(

Ohhhh, I hope she doesn't read this.

This set of stories prompts me to repeat how I once got away with a new acquisition.

I was working in Florida at the time and before I went my wife made me promise not to be tempted to buy another guitar!

I happen to see this pawn shop near Cocoa Beach which had a pre CBS Fender Strat on display - after a couple of visits the owner approaches and engages in conversation as he recognises me from the earlier visits and I quickly get a very good deal (original owner of the guitar in prison - life sentence and hence will not be reclaiming said guitar).

So what would you do?

In casual conversation with my wife on the phone asking how's she coping at home etc I happen to drop into the conversation that I'd manage to get a few cheap guitar spares - neck, body, scratchplate and some pickups plus a spare case! Why did I need another case was all I got to answer? Answer "easiest way to get the bits back".

I dismantled the guitar to protect it in transport, used spare set of pyjamas to wrap the neck and body and shipped the case taped up with gaffa tape from Florida to Washington and thence home - no comments received to a huge sigh of relief - never tried that tactic since - too many risks involved and the suspense in flying back unsure of the reception was quite a strain!
