Shadows amps and echoes updated

Postby fenderplucker » 19 Nov 2009, 12:55

Hi,

Thankyou for all the very helpful feedback on the articles on the TVS website (www.tvsspecialtyproducts.com) regarding the amplifiers and echoes used by The Shadows.

I have now updated both of those articles to incorporate most of that information along with new data on some of the more obscure echo units, as well as revising the echo timings for the Roland units (which I have just re-measured) and including some more photographs.

Any further feedback would be most welcome.

Regards,

Paul.

I'm glad that you decided to do this Paul. Over the years, many gems have come out from the members but have been lost in the back pages of the various sites and then when the sites changed hosts, they were gone forever. This is the first real attempt to put it on hard copy, well done.

I wonder if you've considered guitars?

That's fine but just one small point, it wasn't The Shadows using the Watkins Shadow Echo at Sheffield Bailey's club - It was Hank Marvin during a 'Marvin & Farrar' tour.

Hi Dave,

Thank's for pointing that out, I missed it in your original comment and will correct the article in the next update.

Thanks also for you comments Alan. I too got weary of searching through old posts and articles whenever I wanted to check some facts and also lamented those that were lost forever, so I finally decided to try to get it all together in one place and also invite others to contribute so that we can build up a more complete picture. Thanks also for the many great pictures that you managed to search out and contribute.

Regards,

Paul.

P.S.

Alan, I have the first draft of a similar article on the guitars used by the Shadows that should appear on the TVS site in a couple of weeks once I have done a bit more research.

Regards,

Paul.
