I have been lucky enough to seen John Rostill with the Shadows at the Paris Olympia in 1964, at the beginning of the "Burns era". He was a really a brilliant man and musician.

One of my all time favourite Shad's tracks is Bossa Roo which John wrote (with some help from Bruce). I love his bass playing in it.

Yes, one of the best from this period and a tour de force from John and Bruce in particular.

Some of my Shadows favourites from the John Rostill period are the whole of the "Rhythm And Greens" EP, "Scotch On The Socks" and "Jigsaw". By the way, today it's exactly fifty years ago that The Shadows recorded the early version of "Razzmataz". Bruce was absent at the time, so Hank, Brian and John recorded the piece. It must have been one of the first, if not the first recording session for John with The Shadows.

I also love John's playing on Naughty Nippon Nights, it's very unusual for the time.
Any news on the updated John Rostill book yet?

John was an excellent all round musician and in my mind the best Shadows years. The compositions say it all
