o/t Marty Wilde song identification

Postby ash » 27 Jan 2014, 12:34

I was wondering if anyone here could help me identify 2 songs by Marty Wilde performed on Saturday Club 1961 backed by The Krew Kats (including Brian and Licorice so some Shads content!).
The first has lyrics including:
so come on and say you love me with a love so true
True love and devotion for me and you

the second has lyrics including:
i need your love to keep me happy
don't say goodbye you'll make me cry i need your love

I think i recognise the second one but i can't put a title to it, sounds like something Elvis might have done (but i don't think he did )
i've googled etc. but drawn a blank so far.
I'd be very grateful if anyone can provide titles these for me.
Thanks.

I think this is the second song: I Need Your Love

I don't know the first song, but it sounds a little like: Dream Lover

Well deduced, Donna!

The I Need Your Love video track is the actual Saturday Club radio broadcast, although it's a song Marty never recorded commercially. As yet, particularly without knowing the identity of the writer(s), I haven't been able to trace any other version - if one exists. The same could apply to the first song, although there appears to be nothing relevant posted on Youtube.

Thanks, Bill. It was fun trying to match up the lyrics with the songs. I wasn't aware of Marty Wilde in much detail before I joined this Forum, but now I'm "Wilde About Marty." And Vince Eager. :D I found an episode guide to "Saturday Club" but it just lists two appearance of Marty Wilde and The Wildcats in 1960, without detail on what songs he performed. Depending on your web browser, you might have to put the cursor on the chart itself and hit a Down Arrow to get to the shows in 1960.

This video of Marty is my favourite because we can so clearly see Licorice and Brian, along with Big Jim Sullivan.

Cheers,
Donna

The first one isn't Dream Lover. I wonder if it's a Marty original. Judging from the lyrics i'd be surprised if it isn't called True Love and Devotion but i've not been able to find out more as yet.
