Zoe,

Always happy to oblige and I’m obviously pleased and interested to know that I’ve helped to give the band your first piece of national media publicity. Let’s hope that the many millions (!!) of people who read that letter also went off and Googled ‘the Crickettes’ – as I’m sure did the editorial staff of the magazine!

The idea for a guitar instrumental radio show is not a bad one at all, the problem is that I don’t do any kind of radio show at the moment, having called it a day with ‘Girls Rock’ about a year ago. I notice that Trent Sound has had something of a radical makeover recently and the number of hours it broadcasts have been severely cut down. I can’t imagine that this bodes well for the future of the station. Whilst I was there, due, I’m sure, to my availability rather than my ability; I did present (on a guest-basis) a few other shows. I remember giving Robbo’s band a mention when I stood in on the local events programme and, you’ll all be pleased to know, I actually got told off for playing too many Shadows tunes when I was presenting the Tuesday night Castle Rock show! I also managed to play as many pieces of Brian Bennett and Alan Hawkshaw TV and production music when presenting Not On Your Telly on a Sunday night as I could. Those were the days, but all behind me now, I’m afraid. I think my ideal show would be one where there were no barriers as such and I could play whatever I liked. I hesitate to use the word ‘eclectic’, but I suspect that this would be as good a word to describe such a show as any.

As it stands, I am currently working on a couple of projects that if and, hopefully, when they see fruition, you will all enjoy.

In the meantime, I have just been consulting my old play lists and I see that I played ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ on the show broadcast 4th December 2012 and was due to play ‘Bat out of Hell’ the following week but, as I was overrunning, it got played the next week instead. I thought I’d played more than that to be honest.

Reproduced below is the advertising banner thingy that was put together to go on the website. In the end, I don’t think it ever did. And NO, that’s not me in the picture; which, depending upon how you look at it, is either a good or a bad thing.
