Public Liability Insurance

I'm from the South Wales Shadows Club. We are about the renew our PI Insurance but last year's cover was very high. We now do not do outside gigs and only meet monthly in our local Conservative club. They have cover for their premises.

We were wondering what cover do other clubs have;
Is PI Insurance necessary at all in these circumstances?

We see ourselves covered by the Conservative Club for accidents from their premises and thing we would only need cover for any accidents arising from our equipment; e.g. electric shock or someone tripping over a cable.

Don't know if this is any help, but as a working musician I am a member of the Musician's Union and as such get free public liability insurance, as well as cover for my gear.

Dave, I don't know if things with the MU have changed but when I was a working musician I still had to take out a separate policy with them to cover my equipment, new for old. I also had problems getting car insurance at the time because I was a musician and the MU fixed me up with a company that insures musicians although I think musicians are discriminated against with car insurance as most of them are only trying to make a living but they are catigorised with a few druggie rock stars.
