Birmingham NEC concert

Obviously I don't doubt that this has been discussed before, but to save me wading through umpteen pages can anyone point me to any previous topic re the Birmingham NEC concert from which that seven numbers on 'The Shadows Live' VHS tape release were taken ?

I was wondering if the entire concert was available on DVD and CD or if not is their any chance of it appearing ?

the VHS tape is really good but at just about 25 minutes only leaves you wanting more...

at least the Liverpool Empire concert tape was an hour long plus has been later released on CD.

Hi Geoffrey,The problem with the whole concert (DVD wise)is that Cliff had a falling out with EMI a few years back, Im sure someone else knows more. regards Gary

I am afraid that these seven tracks are all from that concert series. The Shadows set was part of the silver jubilee concerts "Together" at Wembley (2.-5. July 1984)and the Birmingham NEC (7.-12. July).
The complete set was:
Move It / In The Country / Don’t Talk To Him / Please Don’t Tease / It’s All In The Game / The Next Time / Lucky Lips / It’ll Be Me / Shadoogie / Time Is Tight / Theme From The Deer Hunter / Equinoxe (Part V) / Wonderful Land / Apache / F.B.I. / Living Doll / Bachelor Boy/ The Minute You’re Gone / We Say Yeah / interval / Willie And The Hand Jive / The Young Ones / Summer Holiday / I Love You / Time Drags By / Travellin’ Light / The Day I Met Marie / Throw Down A Line / The Twelfth Of Never / Congratulations / Power To All Our Friends / Let Me Be The One / On The Beach / I Could Easily Fall / Do You Wanna Dance / We Don’t Talk Anymore / Visions / We Don’t Talk Anymore (reprise)
Best wishes,
Ulrich

... and the whole concert was available on VHS, but never officially on CD or DVD.

George

Not quite the whole concert was released on video - it'll be me, minute you're gone, time drags by, throw down a line, willie and the hand jive were all left off.

Fantastic concert / the one that got me into the Shads in the first place.

With regard to the 'At Their Very Best' - Live in Liverpool - the video (and later dvd) clocked in at about an hour - so I'd say there were quite a few tunes missing from this release as well.

You're right , Bernie. I should have said most of the 1984 concert was on VHS. I doubt any of it will see the light of day on DVD now. There were certain issues with the Liverpool recording, which meant that only part of the set was issued.

There is a EMI CD/DVD > The Shadows Platinum Collection you get 2 CD'S and a DVD Live at the National Exhibition Centre Birmingham.
With Shadoogie > Time Is Tight > Theme From The Deer Hunter > Equinoxe ( Part V )> Wonderful Land > Apache > F.B.I
Look in TESCO and ASDA they had it in when it first come out about £9-99 . LEO'S DEN have at £16-99

You never need to wade through umpteen pages. Use the Search box top right. I tried 1984 NEC as a search term and got instant results. Other search terms will deliver other outcomes.

What a shame 'Throw Down a Line' was excised. A great song (whether you prefer Cliff and Hank's version or MWF) and one that I am surprised they performed live as late as '84. I assume it was left off due to it not being that well known. I'd like to see (or hear) this version...
