Has Cliff and the Shads version of Mystery Train from Radio Luxembourg surfaced ?
Malcolm Campbell's work suggests he's heard it but it's not on any of the cds i have.

Yes, but Brian was the Shadows' drummer throughout the period when The Savage was their latest record (even if it did only get to about number ten in the sales charts).

I remember a January 1962 SNATLP appearance by The Shadows where they played Apache and The Savage before Cliff came on.

And then Bruce Forsyth joined in on the end of the line with a fake guitar, copying the dance steps. The plug kept coming out of his "guitar" and after he had re-inserted it a few times, it exploded when the plug entered the socket.

It was just comedy. I didn't even get the symbolism at the time.

Bruce Forsyth has been an unnecessary irritant for a long time, although very talented if you like that sort of thing.
