Amen to that, Dave. And include the commercial channels in that statement too.
"Real" musical talent his rare these days, or appears to be. What's important seems to be making cheap TV.

Yesterday, I tuned in to Glastonbury to see and record The Who. I will see them live in Amsterdam this Thursday, together with my father and a friend of his.

I read somewhere that both The Zombies and Donovan were appearing - but no sign of them on the BBC, or even a mention.

Maybe I imagined I read that ?

The less said about Kayne West the better. One of the highest selling aritsts of all time, nominated for load of Grammys, actually WON 21 !!! I must be missing something.

Great to see The Who especially as they played many numbers they do not usually play on stage.
But time for them to call it a day now and retire gracefully.

Ryan Adams was excellent but I had to wait until 12:30am last night to see him do just 2 songs.
Again maybe I missed him when he was broadcast live.

The Who's current tour will be their last major one. As with The Shadows, 'never say never'. The Who still play themselves and Roger Daltrey still sings the songs in the same key, although sometimes an octave lower, which cannot be said about Led Zeppelin's last concert in 2007. The concert was just great, but a lot of the tracks were played a whole key lower to accommodate Robert Plant's voice. I have heard The Rolling Stones have a back-up band behind the curtains, who gets heard much more than The Rolling Stones themselves, which is a disgrace.

Justin Hayward's stage vocals are stronger than ever - amazing at his age.

Re. Kanye West. THIS may be of interest!...

Whilst I wouldn't want this thread to become a 'Kanye West Bashathon' - lest we not forget that he was the 'man' who stormed onto the stage a few years ago at an MTV awards ceremony - whilst Taylor Swift was receiving an award for Best Video - and basically hurled abuse at everyone who had voted for her and NOT Beyoncé. (That's all from memory, folks). Still, what a guy, eh? Some of the comments below the article are, er, illuminating!

Rock Star? I dooooooon't think so.

P.S. Look at Pete Townshend's guitar... :D
