Hank's childhood home

Postby Fenderman » 07 Aug 2016, 15:36

Does anyone know if Hank's childhood home in Newcastle still exists? (Stanhope Street i think?).
I had a look on Google but turned up nothing, i know most of Newcastle was redeveloped around the 80's so it might have been knocked down?

Hi Geoff
Hope you are keeping well.
Yes - we took a drive past last year - just another block of flats. Very disappointing - but thats Progress.
Mind you, we did find that he'd set up a new business in Blyth,Northumberland, just down the road, in case his guitar playing didnt work out -

I guess it was pulled down, ah well.
I don't think any of 'old' Newcastle exists anymore, the city has had a massive redevelopment programme since the 80's, just watch 'Get Carter' and you'll see how much has changed!

Maybe there is a Facebook page of old Newcastle. There are a lot of groups on there based on the old days in different towns & cities and people post up old photographs so there could be a chance of finding some old pictures of Stanhope Street.
