ESE Echomatic 6SE

Postby petercreasey » 21 Mar 2014, 17:23

Hiya Folks,
I have recently been fortunate enough to aquire what I understand to be the last Echomatic made, it was owned by the late Geoff Alderton who had it made by Eric Snowball in 2010 and subsiquently was modified by Amanda Hambidge ( I don't know when perhaps Amanda can help me out there) moving the heads to emulate the Meazzi.
I am interested to know how many of these Echomatic 6SE models were made, I read that Keith Mantle had one but sold it (I don't know who has it now) and that Eric Snowball kept one for himself, so if there are any more owners out there I'd like to hear from you.

I know someone who has an unmodified ESE Echomatic VI in France (he is not the first owner). Here it is in action with a very rare Burns TV25 amp (a prototype, not many were made) at the latest Ch'tiShads meeting in october 2013 :

How did you manage to wallpaper the face plate so neatly? ;)

I had the same model and preferred the IV which I still have. I found it more fiddly and more difficult to achieve the right patterns. For 99% of Shads echoes you only use the regen position 4, which is pre-set on mine, so for that purpose the other buttons are a distraction. That said, if you are into complex non Shads echoes then this is the machine you need.

Hiya Dave
I don't have any difficulty getting the right echoes, perhaps due to the work that Amanda did when she modified it. My interest really is in how many of the 6SE models were made.

Take care

Hi all,

Dave, Kim, Lottie and me are rather hoping there'll be an added benefit now that Pete's got this (latest) piece of Kit.........................that we'll have time for a cup of tea between numbers whilst he'd twiddling his knobs!

Regards
Paul
P.S. Only joking, or kid - honest! ;)
