Programme on tonight with Twiggy talking to fans of the Shadows. Think it's on BBC2

Watched it.

It was reasonably good and there was about five minutes of Shadows content near the beginning. Inevitably, perhaps, they showed the usual B&W clips from Crackerjack and the footage of them from the youth club playing for Princess Margaret. Some nice reminiscences although, again inevitably, it quickly became 'The Beatles Show'. Surprised that there was no real mention of Cliff. All in all, not bad.

More importantly, the programme that followed (Rock 'n Roll Britannia) featured interviews from Bruce, Liquorice and Mo Foster. And the usual clips!

Nice programme with far more Shadows than usual. It was poor though that Cliff was so sidelined (as the Shads usually are). Billy Fury hardly merited the higher profile he was given.

I quite enjoyed the Rock 'n Roll Britannia programme.
Bruce was a wlecome guest and it was interesting how he confirmed that Rock n Roll had become "sanitised" and the Shads were part of that process.
I agreed with Noddy Holder. Shakin Alll Over, was by far the best British RnR single of that era.

Documentary on Lonnie Donegan tonight on ITV plus docs on The Everly Brothers and Billy Fury on Friday on BBC4.

A great opportunity to set the record straight... missed.

I was so disappointed.

Billy Fury was one of the most under rated singers of the period, writing many of his own songs before others even thought of it! He apparently had more top 40 hits than the Beatles and so deserved the high profile given . Illness of course cut his career short. I hope next Fridays documentary does him justice. Sadly missed!
