I smiled to myself

when I read some of Donna's comments re her recent "Theme For Young Lovers" thread. Yes.....a 'new' Shadows track: "The Rice And Fall Of Flingel Bunt"! Brilliant. This kind of thing just appeals to my silly sense of humour. There have been many examples of mis - spelt Shadows titles down the years. I'm not sitting here with any kind of reference book or piles of CDs in front of me.....but (knowing the VAST amount of knowledge on this site) just thought that I would kick off this thread / topic, purely for a bit of light - hearted fun. For starters, I would suggest that the most commonly mis - spelt Shadows title is "Quatermasster's Stores". It is quite often listed as "Quartermaster's Stores". It's not really so surprising as the Shadows instrumental is purely an arrangement of the very well - known song of that latter title! An old British army song....it exists in many variants (those versions sung at rugby clubs etc being simply filthy and scatalogical). The 'cleaned up lyrics' version is still sung regularly in 2012 in primary schools and at (Boy) Scouts and (Girl) Guide gatherings world wide. Not surprising that many (especially abroad) compilers would be unaware of the Shadows' liking for daft puns and supplanting Quartemaster with Quatermass -ter (after the cult 1950s sci - fi BBC TV series of which they were all great fans). Thus many foreign compilers simply thought that "Quatermasster" was a spelling mistake! You've got to love it. So, Shadowmusic guys and gals. Together we could come up with the ultimate list of mis - spelt Shadows' titles by pooling our combined knowledge. I'll start the ball rolling. I was on holiday in Thailand about 5 years ago and I picked up a neat CD "The Shadows #1 EMI Thailand PM1291.
"Cavatina (Theme For Deer Hunger)" / "Thunderbird Theme" / "Parisiene Walkaway" (+ 22 correctly spelt titles)
I have seen "Man Of Mystery" listed as "Man Of Mistery" ( a bit foggy that one!) and "Theme From A Filleted Plaice" (bit 'fishy').
Those are just a handful off the 'top of my head'. There must be lots more.
Rob
