No Shadowmania ... but now SHADOWSFIX!

Postby David Martin » 06 Mar 2013, 10:24

A small group of our fellow Shadows fans have been working hard to organise a weekend of music so that we can once again meet up and enjoy the like-minded company of our friends in the Shadows Family. The details have now been released and are as follows:

"SHADOWSFIX"

30th & 31st August 2013

The Kingfisher Country Club
A449 Kidderminster Road
Wall Heath
West Midlands
DY6 0EN

Featuring:

BRIAN "LICORICE" LOCKING
The Shadowers
Legend
The Runaways
Shazam

and Zoe McCulloch's new all-girl band...
The Crickettes

The purchase details for tickets will be posted on the ShadowsFix website on Sunday 17th March at 12:00 noon. As of that point, the tickets will immediately become available.

Ticket holders will be granted free access to a club evening which has been dubbed the Friday night "Shindig". This is being held on the night prior to the main ShadowsFix concert. In case you would like to play at the Shindig, information on how to take part will be posted with your tickets.

The price of a ticket is just £30 (remember, this includes the Friday night Shindig!). There is a limited amount of accommodation onsite at the Kingfisher Hotel. In case these rooms sell out, nearby hotels are listed on the event's website. Saturday's evening meal (to be served by waiting staff) is being provided at a discounted rate of just £5 per person. To take advantage of this offer, your meal needs to be ordered in advance. Details are given on the event's website.

Let's hope this will be a successful weekend!

See the ShadowsFix website for further details:

Fantastic, and well done to all those organisers. One small plea though please - this is bound to be popular and hopefully an annual event but already people will have arranged holidays - as I and my family have specifically because this is the first weekend where prices drop off dramatically after summer school holidays. I'm sure lots of us are quite happy to fit our holidays around events like this (don't tell the wife though) so in future years could we have a little more notice? I know it's not as easy as that and certainly no criticism is intended - quite the opposite in fact.

Well done, it should go some way towards allowing those folks who liked to meet up at Lakeside to carry on, should this be an annual event. 8-)

Thanks for the announcement David!

Thanks also to those of you commenting and emailing already :D

Re the date, we had to take what was available, but if this is a success and we get the interest for this to go annual, then we'll definitely be taking on board such suggestions, and hopefully be in a better position to give more notice too.

To those emailing the box office already, sorry folks, there'll be no payments accepted before 12 noon on the 17th March. Those wishing to pay by either cheque or bank transfer please email the box office with the payment method of your choice, they'll be noted and saved and we'll email you instructions at the same time as the box office opens.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask on here, by email or via the Facebook page or Twitter account and we'll get back to you ASAP (usually evening time, the day job doesn't allow me access to any of this!).

We're thrilled you're all planning on joining us, it'll be lovely to catch up with everyone again :D

This sounds great! Would love to meet up with everybody that went to Lakeside in 2012 again! Is there an option to perform on the Friday Night, like at Shadowmania? I think I saw something on the website about a "Friday Night Shindig" which says members from Shadows Club's can play, but I'm not in one unfortunately! Not any in County Durham!

Regards,
Robson ;)

Hi Robson,

It's not exclusive for those in clubs, it's just that most who join in belong to clubs, that's all. As if we'd leave you out?!

Looking forward to seeing you and hearing you play again.

Have had a look at the website but can't find details of other nearby hotels.
Can you help please?
