Yes Amanda It was my Amp - you spotted the speaker wire to one of the terminals came adrift. Previously, I shunted my Amp to make way for the Shadowers Sound Check - Panic set in as Brian Haycock was about to use it for The Driftin Shadows Set - Their was no sound / Leads were checked Amps were quickly changed then I came to find you - Many thanks for your expert help.
I thought Bob Dor'e had found a new sound on his Keyboard as we were finishing Mountains of the Moon - but it was the fire Alarm! We left the building ( without Elvis ).
The inpromptu singalong in the carpark came about when John Scrymgeour handed me his accoustic ( a sort of Cliff at a rainy Wimbledon momment ). A couple of songs later we were let back in.
All the organisers did a fantastic job - we were all very proud to be part of it. So glad £8500 has been raised from this event. All the hard work was well worth it.
For anyone who is interested here's the offending component from Justin's AC15:
8 + 8Mfd 450V, you can see the bulge in the rubber under the red terminal, the next development would have been a loud bang and clouds of noxious smelling steam and an amp chassis covered in shredded paper and foil!
It lasted for nearly 50 years though!
Luckily I was able to remove the one from my "clone AC15" chassis to replace it!
