Iain, I would be happy to help, if you think there is anything I can do. I have some time available, so I could dedicate the time. Whether my geography presents any problems, only you and the other management might know. In other words, if the maintenance work requires people to meet in person to confer/etc., I obviously cannot...but I could communicate by other methods.

It's a standing offer, no deadline. Just let me know if there's anything I could do to help.

Kind regards,
Donna

Thanks Donna. I said it without consulting my colleagues on the site team, which I should have done first! We'll have a ponder and see whether there's anything we feel the site needs. Meanwhile, I was speaking for myself :)

.... which I've now done.

Many thanks Donna and Mike. We can see plenty of merit in what you suggest and are grateful for the offers. On reflection we feel there is no major problem with the site and are inclined to leave things jogging along as they are. We always welcome constructive feedback, though, so please don't be discouraged.

I too received an email purporting to come from Peter Alden. Curiously, however, it came not to my current email address but to an old one which I haven't used for 3 years but occasionally look at, in case someone wants to contact me, not knowing I've changed.

If I hadn't seen this thread I might have opened the innocent-looking attachment, so thanks everyone

Often these attachments run through address books and forward the content onwards. For a long time now I have the first entry in my address book a fictional account starting with several "a"s and other numbers etc along with a fake e-mail address. If I receive one of these e-mails the "program" tries to forward its contents and cannot succeed then eventually gives up. For added security a second such fake can be created.
