If there had been bum notes, surely it would have been re-recorded and we may have had a different guitar solo to learn :D

Not necessarily - bum notes have got through before. Remember in those days artists had to record two or three tunes in a short space of studio time! Unlike today where they spend months on one song, and years on an album!

That's right. Jet goes off track at the end of Man Of Mystery and his A string is a bit flat in Theme From A Filleted Plaice. Hank muffs a chord in Blue Turns To Grey. Licorice's bass line in Dance On isn't wrong but it's not what you'd expect. There's supposed to be a drum glitch in Atlantis although I haven't been able to identify it. Even the supremely accurate John has a minor wobble in Bossa Roo. Are they bum notes or are they 'character'? To me, the energy is vital and if you get a great performance with the odd technical hiccup, I'd rather have that than note perfection with no soul :)

I've always wondered whether Hank played the A note too early in one of the verses in My Resistance is Low...

I agree, i like hearing old recordings with the occasional minor glitch, unlike today's clinical recordings.
I also like to hear 'background' noises, you get quite a bit particularly on Shad's recordings.
