I believe Dave Clark also holds the rights to the 1960's NME pollwinners concerts at Wembley Pool which would have been nice to see (The Shads would have been there) but these will probably not be released either.
A couple from 1964 & 65 are on Youtube but the quality is a bit dodgy (and 1964 has a timecode on it).
It would be nice if these were released on DVD as he would earn money from it.

The 1964 concert footage is owned by British Pathé and can be viewed in low quality on its website. It can also be bought, when I assume (and hope) the quality would be much better and the sound and vision in sync!

What is the exact recording and/or broadcast date of this show? By the way, I have an audio recording of "If I Had A Hammer".

The 1964 NME Pollwinners Concert was recorded on 26/4/64 which I think was
the Sunday Afternoon segment of that year?
Certainly it was shown on ITV regions in 2 one hour programmes on the 1st 2
sundays of May64
Most copies in circulation are much copied VHS origin bootlegs with pretty poor
reproduction like the You Tube offering currently posted.
If Pathe also have a crappy copy, then maybe the original pristine or as near good
master is lost?

Hi Ivo,

It's 20th August 1969... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_S ... :_Series_2

...using the internet to research transmission dates of episodes of the Sooty Show...I clearly need to get out more!

It's a shame The Beatles 1966 NME set wasn't filmed (due to a clash between Brian Epstein and the TV company) as this was their last 'proper' concert in the UK.
I've not even seen the footage of them receiving their awards which i believe was filmed.

Was that the same NME Poll Winners Concert as where Jet Harris & The Innocents performed "Diamonds" and "Big Bad Bass"?

Yes.

It's on Youtube.

The original broadcast tape still exists and is in the hands of French company Canal+, who are the current owners of the entire ABPC and ABC TV back-catalogue.

Pretty irrelevant, I know, but the founder of Canal+, Andre Rousselet, has recently died. He was well in with the former French president, Francois Mitterrand!

"In 1984 Rousselet founded the French Pay-TV channel Canal Plus (Canal+) which spread throughout western Europe, gaining the rights to sporting events, French and foreign television shows and French-made films, giving a fillip to his nation’s film industry, which the channel backed financially..."
