Speaking as someone with a lifelong career in the BBC, much of it in News, I can only say that my newsroom colleagues and I were ashamed and appalled at that helicopter stunt. Against all the editorial policy and code of conduct we believe in.

South Yorkshire Police have "apologised wholeheartedly" to Sir Cliff Richard after its investigation into the singer was dropped.
