Hank has been vocal in his belief that guitarists should try to develop their own style, instead of simply copying him (unfortunately, I believe I come into the latter bracket). I doubt he ever uttered the above quote. If he did, it would surely be of one of the leading Shadows players, such as Phil, Colin and the like, not some unknown, faceless player who would only use the quote to make some money from a seedy CD. IMHO.

Malcolm, then why don't you try to play in your own style instead of slavishingly copying every note ?

It depends on the tune, Malcolm. Some pieces of music allow you to have some fun with them, whilst others seem to demand to played with authenticity. The public would likely not appreciate much variance in the classic Shads tunes, either at my own gigs or the Shadowers'. Most importantly, though, recreating "That Sound" is one of my greatest joys.

OK then.
When you coming to see us again, I've a cob for you wrapped up for months.
It'll be going stale soon.

Hopefully quite soon, though not before 18th September. I've got a gig that day, and apparently I have to practise for this one!
