Jim
It wasn't CLIFF and The Shadows - ONLY The Shadows!!
You got me wondering now if I got the Order right - I'm sure I have. :?
He did sing "I'll Remember YOu-oo" cos my Mum went all funny when he was on stage and kept singing it over and over on the No15 bus back to Eccles!
I wonder if anyone has a Poster of the Gig?
cheers

It was July 1962 when Frank Ifield hit number one with 'I Remember You', so I guess Peter Gormley used this and similar tours to get his name around. ;)

I remember you.
The first chords that really intrigued me at the age of 14.
Love em.
Still do.

This was Frank Ifield ('Australia's Personality Singer' as the bill matter puts it) in April 1960 - fourth on the bill in the first half of a twice-nightly show headed by Duane Eddy.

Those were the dying days of 'variety' when Moss Empires still hadn't grasped that if you put a rock'n'roll star at the top of the bill then the audience wanted the support acts to be rock'n'rollers as well. Sitting there at the time I put Frank (accompanied by The Empire Orchestra) firmly in the 'old fashioned' category.

Even though their first hit records would be two years away (Frank Ifield) and three years in the future (Kathy Kirby), that still sounds like some theatre bill, Ray.

Did Alan Randall - the late Alan Randall, I should say - do his renowned George Formby act? I ask because in 1960, the real George was still very much alive and strumming his uke. He even had his own TV series.

Brilliant work Heinz. Thank you. Not that I saw the Shads in 1962 - but fascinating to see that programme. Suzi Miller - beloved of children growing up in the 1950s from her regular appearances on Children's Favourites singing "Bimbo". Good to see that Captain Haddock was on the bill too. LOL. :D
