From memory,
The Warlord (the studio recording, that is)
does feature fuzz on the lead guitar and is one of the first British recordings to do so, though obviously, produced in the studio in mid-October 1965, it doesn't pre-date the Rolling Stones'
Satisfaction (a great record) for immediacy, but The Shads had already done that with
Stingray, which featured fuzz on the Fender Bass VI.
The trouble really is that Hank didn't use a lot of distortion on either
Stingray or
The Warlord: it is barely on. In mono (which is how the recordings were originally issued on 45rpm) the effect isn't very noticeable, though later stereo reissues make the sound so much more transparent.
