We too are off to see Duane - at The Cheese and Grain in Frome next week. Sounds like a pub but is more like a Club so should be good. Seems he has a supporting act but the name is unknown to me. Agree with everyone - what a lovely man. Met up with him in Nashville a few years ago when we were celebrating a wedding anniversary and was lucky enough to have lunch with Duane and Deed.....a lovely lady too.

Rob,

Also, no... Duane was in Nashville, Jonathan was in our kitchen! Very impressed by Duane, though, both as an interviewee and at the gig last night.

Mike,

Good to catch up last night.

John,

If it's the same support as Glasgow, it's a young American singer/ songwriter called Nell Bryden. Good songs and guitar playing.

Hmm think you got a better deal at Holmfirth than Glasgow venue
He didn't do Dance with the Guitar Man , Play Me like you play your guitar, or Mexborough
Ferry Boat Halt and there was no Richard Hawley either!!!!
Methinks we wuz short changed up here!!!

Like Dave and Neil I saw Duane at York last year - my wife and I enjoyed it so much that we are going to York again next week - Duane and the band should be even better this year as they have since spent a lot of time playing together.
As an added bonus York's a great city for a day out.

Best wishes

Just booked a couple of tickets for the Bexhill show.

It'll take a while to get there, but wild horses wouldn't drag me back to the South Bank complex, which is an absolute horror story, particularly if travelling by car!

Hi Jim

What about a train, then? Someone else does the driving and you have no parking problems when you get there! ;-)

An excellent show at the Queen Elizabeth Hall last night. Special guests in the audience included Fred Gretsch and his wife (yes, the Fred Gretsch, head of the firm) and Peter Blake, the artist (Sgt Pepper cover, etc). Duane played quite a few tracks from his recent Road Trip album and these are asterisk'd.

This was Duane's set:
Detour
Movin'n'Groovin
Yep
The Lonely One
Shazam!
Bleaklow Air*
Ramrod
Play Me Like You Play Your Guitar
(b/v by Tina and Louise)
Dance With The Guitar Man (b/v by Tina and Louise)
3.30 Blues
40 Miles Of Bad Road
The Attack Of The Duck Billed Platypus*
Because They're Young
First Love, First Tears
Primeval*
(additional guitar by Richard Hawley)
Still Is The Night (vocal by Richard Hawley)
Curveball*
Rebel Rouser
Peter Gunn

(encore) Mexborough Ferry Boat Halt*
(encore) Hard Times

Duane had special praise for the band (Shez Sheridan, guitars, Jon Trier, keyboards, Colin Elliot, drums and Dean Beresford, bass) and for the UK sax player (didn't quite get his name, sounded like Paul Cory)

Many thanks for the set list Ray. I was there as well and it was a great night. The support act, Nell Bryden, was excellent. Isn't always the case with support acts! Duane also mentioned that DJ Johnnie Walker was in the audience and thanked JW for always starting his radio programme with Because They're Young which Duane then played. It's still my favourite DE record - about the same time as Apache in the summer of 1960 - what a year!
