Hi Donna,
Great clip! Martin is the excellent drummer in the equally excellent Legend. Chris Jarvis (John Rostill devotee) is on bass, Terry Carter on lead and David Martin is on rhythm. Terry and David would freely interchange lead and rhythm duties. David has now retired and his replacement is the equally brilliant Tony Hoffman. Legend released a fantastic CD as well as a CD - EP. I'm sure that Martin will also reply - so he can tell you much more about Legend. Great musicians and a really nice bunch of guys. Martin's son Matt (not featured in this clip) plays keyboards / synths with the group.

Bests....Rob :)

Blimey! Made it onto a 2nd page. Rob, thanks for those ringing endorsements; I'll give you the fiver next week. You can buy me a drink with it. Donna, thank you for your interest in LegEnd; it's great to think that our efforts are appreciated not just locally, but right across The Pond; even in Japan!! You can find some more clips of us playing at various S/Manias if you follow this link.........http://www.youtube.com/user/shadowmusic ... sults_main You can also catch playing with Bruce on this link............http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z3AVE27c3IQ I'm the good looking one at the back. As Rob said, David has reluctantly left the band following probs with his left hand. We were extremely lucky to secure the services of Tony Hoffman who's a whizz on both lead and rhythm as is Terry and Chris J is the nearest thing to John Rostill you'll come across. Now that we have Matt with us supplying the orchestral base to the 'big' numbers we're looking forward to doing it all again next week. Wot! me nervous??
Love, Mart.

Dear Rob and Martin: Thank you both for the information. I am going to look up that new album from "Legend" and I am going to find those videos on YouTube. Thanks for the names of the players -- I couldn't have gotten that information any other way. I amended my original post by putting a second video -- the real Shadows playing the same song. You (Legend) sound exactly like them. It is really cool.

Martin, want to hear something funny? One of the reasons I watched both videos of Bombay Duck is because I was trying to determine how the "duck" sound was created. I watched the Shadows first, and still wasn't sure. I could see John Rostill doing a full-scale slide, but that didn't seem to be what I was hearing. When I watched the Legend video, I saw you with the kazoo. :D

Thanks for everything,
Donna

Hi! again, Donna. And thank you for that flattering comparison. B.D. was a tune Chris & I particularly liked, but couldn't find a device which properly mimicked the Burns 'Buzzaround' used by John on the record (as well as on Tennessee Waltz from Jigsaw) So I saved my pennies and invested in the 40th Anniversary Limited Edition Duck Call from the Fred N. Rubens company based in Canarda. As well as having superior sound quality, thanks to the innovative rezo-tubing, the 40th anniversary model is signed by Donald himself and has a strip of black Gaffa tape at the mouthpiece to stop it falling out during performance. Perhaps Mr. Martin could open up a new Poultry Sound Effects section on the main board for people to add their own experiences of these wonderful but under-valued contributers to "That Sound". Keep listening.
Love, Mart.

Legend (including Tony H and with Matt on keyboards) performed a great set as the 'top-of-the-bill' act at the Pipeline Convention in 2011 and it was, as usual, recorded for the official DVD. Their set was
Main Theme / The Miracle / Quando / Temptation / Friends / Chattanooga Choo-Choo / Tomorrow's Cancelled / Bossa Roo /Maroc 7 / Shindig / Back Home / Atlantis / The Breeze & I / Les Girls / The Frightened City / Find Me A Golden Street / The Savage / FBI / Man Of Mystery

With the band's permission (Martin?) I could upload a track to Youtube for all to see. Perhaps there could be a little vote as to which track it should be? Alternatively, maybe one of the band could upload from their own copy of the DVD?

Hey Ray

I've no objections you posting something on You Tube, I never watch myself anyway as I'm too picky so choose a good one, if poss.
