A day too late, but a very happy birthday to you Hank!
Just because someone doesn't celebrate his or her birthday, shouldn't mean someone is not allowed to wish that person a happy birthday. Well, in my humble opinion. Or is it considered offensive to someone who is a Jehovah's Witness?

I think it highly unlikely that Hank would be offended by being wished a happy birthday, as, for all we know, he may well wish that to others who are not of his faith. I just can't imagine he is the type of person to make an issue of it.

Hello, Stuart and friends. I'm so glad you liked the video. The part where the The Shadows introduced themselves (by the wrong names) really tickled me.

I know this thread is in honour of Hank, but I would humbly like to say that I really respect Tony for helping out in Brian's absence. If I try to put myself in his shoes and imagine what that might have been like, I don't know what I would have done. Clearly, Tony was a man of great personal character.

Thank you for listening,
Donna

Maybe I dreamt it, but did I read somewhere that Hank blocked the official release of this track a year or two back ?

I think it was around 1996/1997 when the EMI CD "The Shadows At Abbey Road" was being prepared. "Happy Birthday To You" in its undubbed form (without the party chatter) was one of the candidates for this CD. I absolutely respect Hank's wishes, but still I think the track in its basic form would have been great to have as a fan.

I imagine, on this basis, the track never will be officially reissued, which is unfortunate given it is probably one of the most 'musical' versions ever recorded.
