Just logged in and out several times without a problem.

You do have to wait for the login to complete before typing (it says on the screen when you're logged in).

These are almost certainly java problems. It should give you a link to obtain or update your java if it doesn't work.

I'll stay in chat for a while but my battery is going to give up soon - no electrcity due to power cut.

This is a java problem with the usual useless error message. I have no chance of sorting that one since the problem is on the PC rather than the server.

I'll see if I can find, or write, a better chat program after I've finished sorting out the upgrade problem.
