Much as I'm sure there's a load of intriguing tales to tell about the organisation of one or both of these events, let's not get another thread about Shadowsfix/Lakeside locked shall we?

If tales must be told (and I'm sure the vast majority of people couldn't care less), maybe save them until after both events have happened so that people can make their decisions independently and enjoy two weekends of great music without yet another thread falling prey to contentious and needless mud-slinging?

Quite agree Matt. We don't want another 'Locked Thread' because of 'Flaming' etc., etc. For my own part, I was merely explaining why I personally won't be attending Lakeside. It has simply to do with two things..1) Finances 2) The two events just being too close together. Nothing more, nothing less.

Free speech is alive and well and everyone's free to say what they want, within the confines of the terms of this forum (which you agree to abide by when you join).

I didn't demand that Derek not say anything, what I did was make a general plea to suggest that perhaps these kinds of things are better left 'behind the scenes' until after the events in question. A plea that, of course, anyone is more than free to ignore.

Free speech isn't the ability to say anything, anywhere, with no consequences. Yes, I made an assumption about what *might* be said, based on what's already happened on previous threads on this subject and made an appeal to try and avoid that in this thread.

Having a moderated internet forum doesn't interfere with rights of free speech. As I say, you accept the conditions of moderation when you join (whether you subsequently agree with them or not), so any and all members here have made a conscious decision to abide by those when they sign up.

(I'm not Martin...)

But no, I'm not a moderator, which is why I don't decide what is right or wrong on here. All I did was make a general appeal to not turn this thread (which is, or at least was, about positive things) into something about contention and disagreement...well we can all see how successful that was!

I shall crawl back under my stone. If it all kicks off and the thread gets locked again, don't say I wasn't the voice of reason...
