I've got to agree with everyone else.....What a fabulous weekend.

Credit must go to Justin and his Mum & Dad, plus Amanda and everyone else involved.

All of the bands were fantastic, but the Shadowers and the Crickettes were outstanding.

Let's not forget Licorice, who was his usual outstanding self and the brilliant Phil Kelly, who sounded right back on form and is looking very well, thank goodness.

It was a great replacement for ShadowMania.............Let's hope it happens again next year.

Pat.

Not long back home ( & had a cuppa ) and I also agree, it was a great week-end. The bands were great, plenty of opportunity to catch up and chat and great to see old friends after a few years. The venue was fine, much more intimate than Lakeside and it catered well for the numbers in attendance. Of the 5 bands, 3 have previously played at Shadowmania (The Runaways, Legend & The Shadowers), Shazam are probably one of the better bands not to have played SM (don't know why they never got an invite) and The Crickettes were refreshingly different. This show didn't play second fiddle to the upcoming Lakeside event, it was in a class of it's own. A big thanks to all the organisers and I hope there was sufficient numbers and enthusiasm to make it a possibility next year, I'd certainly make the 600 mile round trip to attend.

My fellow countryman, the Laird o' McKillop Towers has said it all. Saturday was a treat from start to finish, with five bands on top form, Licorice was as superb as ever (wasn't Nivram a knockout?) and the return of Phil Kelly was a real bonus. Credit to everyone involved in setting this up!

I do object to the tone of post #9 - if wishing to sit with your friends, who booked as a group, is a crime, then I'm guilty as charged. There were no seat numbers apparent, but if Mr Daniels' interpretation of the seating was correct then with two exceptions we were all seated where we should be. Of course we don't have a right, god-given or otherwise to sit where we choose.I have no wish to taint the positive response to this weekend, but I object to being referred to as a "clown".

I believe the seating was similar to the Shadowmania table plan, ie nearest stage was 1, opposite 2, next in was 3 & 4 on so on, all the way to the back.

Yes....the thing is....the tickets were numbered as per table / seat (although no actual numbers on the seats). For example - mine was table 13, seat 6. Now....allowing for the fact that (as Alan McKillop states) one would have expected the same numbering system as Shadowmania - there was someone else sitting in 'my seat'. However, I personally didn't make a fuss about it...although I would have preferred (as George mentioned) to have actually sat next to the people I booked the tickets with...it was slightly annoying but not a huge deal. However, David Hawley had also booked the same table in our 'little group'. In the event (for various reasons) he decided to sit with Pat Terrett & the Crickettes. Now, if we are going to be 'picky'.....someone else was sitting in Dave's allocated seat (which he hadn't taken up). However - he did briefly come over at one point for a chat. He sat in his 'allocated' seat (which had been temporarily vacated by the occupant). I do not know who the other person was but he got rather 'shirty' - returning to find Dave H in 'his' seat! He was still not happy when Dave politely informed him that he had a seat booked on that table and the ticket to prove it - but that he wasn't going to take up the seat as it turned out. Ah well....it all seems rather petty doesn't it? But...as someone else had raised the subject...

Taking this to an illogical conclusion. I travelled up & back by train. I booked well in advance and I paid extra (because it wasn't hideously expensive) for a 1st Class upgrade between Birmingham and Reading. Boy, was I glad I did...because the 5 coach train (Newcastle - Bournemouth) was already pretty full when about 200 people tried to board it at Birmingham. So....I was not best pleased to find someone sitting in my pre - booked, pre - paid, allocated seat. However, as you know, I am pretty easy - going and fairly polite. I produced my ticket and (politely) asked the person sitting there if they wouldn't mind moving as I had booked the seat between Birmingham and Reading. He basically said 'No' - because there was no - one sitting there when the train started at Newcastle. I politely explained that was irrelevant, as my booking was clearly from Birmingham to Reading & that he would have to vacate the seat. He din't actually tell me to "**** off" - but was rather surly and aggressive & said he was staying put. Well, I wasn't going to stand all the way from Birmingham to Reading after I'd booked in advance & with an Upgrade. So....I went to find the train manager & my unco - operative fellow passenger was obliged to move. If looks could kill.......but I didn't care.....I had booked the ticket & I was entitled to the seat. Thus...I would simply assume that if someone had Table 13, seat 01 or 02 (or whatever) at Shadowsfix - wouldn't they simply & reasonably think that they should be sitting at that particular end of the table - with the people (friends) that they had booked 'en bloc' with? Nothing to do with 'God given right' at all.........
