Thanks very much! I hope it does too!!! Putting the cart before the horse, I had great fun, in my own little way, working out which tracks I'd want as background music if it ever made that magical transition from book to film or TV - let's just say that 'Rockin With Curly Leads' would have featured very heavily! I am very much of the view that both 'Honorable Puff-Puff' and 'Spider Juice' would make great theme tunes (in edited form). There was also, somewhere along the line, a scene that takes place in a nightclub (retro '70s night) and 'Love Deluxe' can be heard playing! It's on he backburner at the moment (certain other projects have reached fruition or are close to doing so!) but I'll return to it one day! In the meantime, what little success I have had as a writer, apart from penning some articles (including one upcoming) on various Shadows websites, is mostly restricted to a couple of books on the subject of classic British sci-fi shows from the '60s and '70s.
I shall endeavor to read your book at some point in the hopefully not too distant future. In the meantime.... F.A.B. (as we say!)
Thank you! I find playing music while I write, or even just imagining what tunes would sound good when certain scenes are played out, creates my own little movie in my mind. I daresay it's the same for many writers. And all the early Shads' classics were in my mind as I wrote "Persistence." I did make one change - there's a hospital scene near the end where the heroine's life hangs in the balance. Another character actually takes out his phone and plays music to try and bring her out of her coma - the tune was originally Hank's long, contemplative guitar intro to his instrumental rendition of "The Young Ones". But I substituted the ongoing "F.B.I." theme in final rewrites. If "Persistence" were ever to be made into a film, "The Young Ones" would be perfect for that scene.
(I think we're all secret film-makers in our imaginations)
