Sadly, no longer. Brian Rust died in January, 2011...

Freda Payne's vocal version seems to do the tune little credit...

OK, I give up...I can't ever recall hearing this tune in that era (1962)..

What was the release format please? LP, EP , B-side???

(I must admit, I only heard the Dream EP a few years ago, but that was a Cliff record)

Ah, thanks Dave!

I've not got that EP- although I've played The Boys theme many times on lead and rhythm...

Fenderman wrote:Another disappointing fact about the book is that recording dates for later songs are listed sometimes as just the year, for example something recorded for Simply Shadows would be listed as just 1987. Either he didn't research that era properly or Polydor have destroyed all their studio logs.

I know that the Abbey Road archives are accessible under certain conditions for journalistic/scientific research. It seems that this does not apply for the Polydor archive. If you look at Malcom Campbell's books you won't find any specific dates for the Polydor recordings either.
Fenderman wrote:I preferred the Beatles book which was done in date order and listed mix sessions and everything, one for the Shadows perhaps 1958 - 1968 would be of interest.

To quite some extent this information is available as part of Roberto Pistolesi's book "That Sound!"

I don't think there actually are any "Polydor recordings" as such and for that reason, the company would not have any session details, etc, any more than Capitol would have session archives for Les Paul's catalogue.

The Shadows' studio recordings from "Change Of Address" onward were made using their own facilities (whether Nivram or Honeyhill Studios) and session details would therefore be known only to the group and their staff. Exceptions might be the live recordings made at Abbey Road in 1982 and at the Liverpool Empire in 1989.

Ahh, i understand now. Anyone researching that would have to approach the studio owners and they might not have kept paperwork from the era.

As I recall, Rollover Records (Roll Over?) was set up by the Shads to produce and administer their own recordings, following the split from EMI. Accordingly, the relevant session details could be held by them, should the company still exist in whatever form.

A quick check shows that the company does, indeed, still exist.
