Perhaps one day, some time soon, or far into the future, there will arise, out of nowhere, a new young band, who write and perform original music, in a new and exciting vocal and /or instrumental style, and they will be as far ahead of everyone else, and as breathtakingly fresh, original and as good, as certain other bands from the 1960's or '70's....whether those band be the Shadows, the Beatles, ABBA, or whoever or whatever else takes your fancy...

Until then, it's 'send in the clones' - who may be bloody talented, superb musicians and vocalists, but still clones- missing that essential creative spark that is the difference between good and truly legendary originals....

John, I totally agree with your sentiments. Sadly in today's world I doubt very much if it will happen. The British popular music scene now seems to favour the garbage churned out by the Simon Cowell shows, where genuine talent comes a very poor second (Or worse) to looks, image and hype. Longevity now means a career lasing a few months not several years and novelties like Susan Boyle and Jedward will bank more money than their talent justifies.
I would imagine and hope that truly talented Musician/Singers from the 50's/60/'s such as Joe Brown, Marty Wilde etc still perform because of a love of music . I have a suspicion though that many perform because they need the money and these artists must, if they were honest, be angered by the rewards gained by todays' big names ,who in terms of talent just don't measure up to the real legends.

That brought back so many memories - I think this was my most played and sung-along-to album I owned back then and so way ahead of anything else around at that time. Interesting to see how many and varied were the individual instruments employed to replicate the original - use of 12strings, different lead guitars etc and particularly good to see and hear real orchestral strings and woodwind, rather than software generated ones.
Apart from a couple of chord/harmony choices that weren't quite as per the original (and that's just me being picky), this was a superb effort at recreating a piece of history. I wonder if the original recordings were done as directly and with so few retakes . . .
Great stuff.
Cheers,

The original was never intended be as one part, the Beatles recorded each part variously without any firm idea as to what to do with them.
Fab Faux have simply copied the final arrangement.
Easy peasy.

Well, I enjoyed it for what it was and was impressed that there are musicians today who are able to recreate that music so accurately. However I do take John's point about the lack of good original material these days and the proliferation of tribute bands. I've more or less given up on listening to modern stuff as I'm invariably disappointed.
