Echoes seems to be the topic which always brings out the worst in folks on these boards and it has done every since the earliest days of ShadowMusic.
It pains me when folks start falling out and interpersonal sniping gets going... please stop it! It does none of us any credit...
As to the topic, I have owned Meazzi, Binson, ESE, Q2, Magic Stomp, Atlantis and in the old days, Copycat. My conclusion? There's more of "that" sound in your fingers than anywhere else... or the lack of it. The other stuff just helps... and your choice may well be conditioned - as it was for me - by how easy it was to use and manage in an on-stage context. So when playing the early stuff with Legend - a rare occurrence, and usually at Newcastle or Whitby - rosewood board Custom Shop Strat, EF86 preamp channel in a modded AC30, Q2 echo, and the playing techniques outlined in the Getting That Sound thread... I was happy with it, the band was happy with it, the experts I respect in Newcastle liked it, and the ordinary Sunday lunch folks in Whitby enjoyed it too...
And if there's anyone here who thought it was crummy... then that's OK too... life's too short...
So please ... PLAY NICELY... it's only rock'n'roll...
