If you show up at the "Seaford Constitutional Club" and seriously expect to see Hank and Bruce, you deserve to get ripped off. However did anybody actually do that, much less "half the county", as was predicated? The infamous article in the Sussex Express clearly states that they are a "Tribute band".

 I think these guys are a little envious of what most people only dream of doing. This Tribute band have made it a reality not a session in the bedroom (please keep it clean...you'll have the Moderator after me...oh and another thing Mr Moderator ....why do you insist on fueling these situations!!!!!!!!!!?????? )
They achieve bums on seats.....take people back in time.....and most of all raise money for charity. AND... they appear to be a success, at least on here they do! These guys are keeping The Shadows music alive, is'nt this what it's all about.Come on, get over yourselves, live the dream and enjoy...life is tooooooo short.
P.S To the The Fabulous Shadows - Keep up the good work and thank you for keeping people's dreams alive.

I am not getting involved in this dispute, but isn't it interesting that everytime this subject is raised a new member or two joins in support of the band ? Must be good for business !

So far I have kept quiet but now appears to be a time when I have to make a few comments of my own.

There are a large number of Shadows tribute acts. I have played in at least 5 of them and worked with several others. As far as I can remember, no Shadows tribute band has received the level of negativity that this one has before now. I believe there is good reason for it.

Yes, I have seen them. I find the two reviews which have appeared on this site to be quite accurate. If anything, they were a little flattering!

Their aggressive promotional style coupled with their exceptionally poor performances and the name they have chosen to use is what has fueled these negative discussions. The more they defend themselves and claim their intention to continue as they are, in equally aggressive style, the more this is going to upset members of ShadowMusic and fuel discussions such as this one.

I would dispute any claim that they are keeping the music alive. In fact they are damaging it by generating a reputation that this type of act is of very poor quality. Coupled with their promotional style, this cannot be good for the music as a whole.

I do not wish to come the heavy hand with respect to the administration of this board so I'm not going to ban anyone this time round. But I have to draw the attention of a certain member to this post:

And advise him that, despite appearances to the contrary, I was not born under a rock.

Hi Des,
I think you will find I have been a member for over a year now.My only 1 posting previous was alas may I say to another have ago at this tribute band and I said I would never post again on here. But, curiosity got the better of me.. and low and behold a year down the line the same old comments are being said! But its getting worse. Unfortunately the thread has been removed so I cannot copy and paste it to show all of you.
Yes I have seen this band and yes mistakes happen but they are LIVE and most importantly enjoyable and entertaining. I am off to see them in Bognor Regis again with a group of friends for a fun and friendly evening.
And finally, as for the last comment on here(ecca), previous to mine, do people really find this appropriate and acceptable?

If I have learnt anything from this thread, it is that anybody who can play some shadows tunes in a band can automatically call themselves a 'Tribute Band'! All the tribute bands that i have seen dont just content themselves with playing the songs/melodies but go to great lengths to look like and act like the originals. Tribute bands for the Beatles/Abba/ Rolling stones/ The jam/Status Quo etc etc try to emulate their favourites but I've yet to see a Shadows band do this. Never seen them live but i would have thought Justins' band would come close given his similar looks to Hank.
I think its just the name and the publicity style that is getting up peoples noses but hey thats showbiz!!

Hi Mike

Justin and his band "The Shadowers" are a tribute band in the true sense, having worked very closely with members of the original Shadows his sound, attention to detail and live performances are nothing short of immaculate.
