Hi Jim,

You are right to remind me about that one, maybe I should play more with that 50th Anniversary. It's my only US made guitar (I guess if I didn't win it, I would have never bought one like that).
Somehow I feel shy to touch it, with it's golden hardware it looks like it's made for real players (like session players).
I told my son I will leave it for him, it will be worth a fortune in 30 years from now.
I'll continue playing with my Chinese and Mexican made one.

Have you changed the pickups or any other mods?

Or are you happy with the sound as it is.

My Bullet sounded fine, I just thought I'd try the SD's on it but in hindsight, I could have lived without the change My other Bullet sounds fine for what I use it for.

I like the Tele's in white, or black, they look classier I think

Classic Vibes Tele similar build to the Baja tele . But i cant make out why there are three screws missing from the scratchplate . Surely this cant be saving that much off a standard build ?. Also , and perhaps not many people notice , the Pickups are not adjustable ?. Again just a couple of screws and springs ?. I think this kind of cheapens what is a nice guitar . The neck pickup was never easily adjustable on a Telecaster built along traditional lines. The adjusting screws are hidden by the scratchplate, which has to be removed (in one piece; it's not connected to anything) in order to access the pickup height adjustment screws. You can leave the scratchplate off a Tele; as with a Jazz Bass or even a Jaguar, its only purpose is a decorative one and the guitar will work without it.

Some editions of the Telecaster in recent years have however had the neck pickup suspended from the scratchplate á la Stratocaster (and consequently adjustable via the mounting screws), but that is unusual.

No, I haven't touched the pickups on any of my 'Classic Vibe' models. These were the one part that seemed fine, without requiring an upgrade. They are good Alnico magnet units, especially for the price you pay. The bridge unit can be a little brittle, but you can EQ that out to some extent. I have a pair of Fender Broadcaster pickups in a cheap far east Tele which I may transfer into it at some time. The neck unit & the mixed position sound really good.

Hi all,

Another set back with this guitar for me.
As RUSSET and others suggested, I wanted to put a heavier block that I had in reserve, but the holes don't fit.
Don't know what to do really.

Anyway, now I better focus on the 2nd surgery I am having ... tomorrow.
I'll be in the hopital for 4 days.
Hopefully the cycle will end after this one.

Best wishes as you approach your next surgery. I'm sure all members will want to wish you well.
On the subject of your Classic Vibe 50's Strat, I have a feeling that the steel block that is available for a Mexican Standard Strat
will fit the bridge you have on the Squier.
Alternatively, you might like to acquire a complete MIM bridge (they have Fender stamped saddles)
and add a full steel block. Some good deals available on the 'bay'.

It's indeed a Steel block from my other Mexican 50 Classic and the holes don't align.
