Didn't McCartney make a crack about Ringo once?

When an interviewer asked him if he thought Ringo was the best drummer in the world, McCartney said that he wasn't even the best drummer in the Beatles...

Well, I never considered Paul McCartney one of the best bass guitarists either. He is good, makes a great bass sound, but, and this is just my opinion, I don't think he is as good as Jet, John Rostill or Alan Jones, let alone John Entwistle.

It was Lennon that made the crack about Ringo.

Perhaps we must accept that an era has past. You can't blame the youngsters that they are not familiar with 'our' music. What do we know about the music of the 30's and 40's ?
My son and few of his friends grew up with The Shadows because of me and I play with them in my band. Apache, FBI etc. but for other youngsters it is boring music.Sad, but true.....

Jet admired McCartney's bass work with the Beatles.
Brian admired Ringo's drum work with the Beatles.
McCartney admired Alan Jones enough to book him as a session bassist for some of his more ambitious projects on the grounds that he would play it better and get it right quicker!
All facts on record :)

Alan Jones was one of the BEST. It really is that simple. I LOVE his melodic and fluid way of playing. Definitely one of my favourite bass players.

Dare I say Alan was probably the best bass player the Shads had?
